Jyte is now open source software. Fork us on github.

It should be possible to remove all claim filters with a single click.

It used to be true that clicking "Recent" or "Newest" (depending on what era we're talking about) sent you back to http://jyte.com/claims . I personally think "Everybody's Claims" should always have done that, but that's a different argument. I kind of sympathize with the rationale for the current behavior, and was willing to accept it.

The problem is that "Newest" doesn't reset as much as it used to. At this point, it strips out the filter category ("voted", "recently_discussed", etc.), but leaves the rest of the filter alone. Whereas "Everybody's Claims", as before, performs the complementary operation: removing all other filters, but leaving the category-filter unchanged.

So now you have to hit two buttons and deal with two page loads to get back to http://jyte.com/claims . That should not be.

Replication:

Start with a complex filter. I'll use my old "converjytion" advanced search (which now is conveniently on my home page, thanks JanRain!):

http://jyte.com/claims/recently_commented?comments_by=darch.myopenid.com&new_comments=on

Hit "Everybody's Claims". The URL is now

http://jyte.com/claims/recently_commented

Hit "Newest". The URL becomes

http://jyte.com/claims/

Yay. Let's try the other way:

http://jyte.com/claims/recently_commented?new_comments=on&comments_by=darch.myopenid.com

Hit "Newest":

http://jyte.com/claims/?new_comments=on&comments_by=darch.myopenid.com

I contend that there should be only one click necessary to get back to /claims and that this lack constitutes a UI bug. I really think "Everybody's Claims" should always have done this, but now that "Newest" has changed as well, there's literally no built-in "back to start" button.
